Bristol Schools Connection

Bristol Schools Connection is a charity which trains and supports churches to build relationship with their local schools, creating space for spiritual dialogue and mutual blessing.

The Temple Ecclesiastical Charity funded two interactive resources, ‘Christmas in a Box’ and ‘Easter in a Box – The Movie’, which enable churches to tell the Christmas and Easter stories to school children in an engaging and fun way.

The funding enabled the production of 16 sets of the resources to be assembled and donated to churches in areas of the city where many children have free school meals. In its second year of use ‘Christmas in a Box’ was hosted by 19 Bristol churches in 20 local schools. ‘Easter in a Box – The Movie’ was hosted by 15 churches in 17 schools in Bristol.

One of the children said: I thought I knew the Easter story really well…but doing it this way made me think about it differently and see it in a different way.”

A teacher said: “It fits in perfectly with [our] curriculum…we would love for this to become a regular fixture.”
