Filwood Hope Advice Centre
The Charity has supported the work of Filwood Hope Advice Centre over many years. Its mission statement reads: “inspired by the life and love of Jesus, our purpose is to be alongside people in the local community who are in need of a person to share the weight of difficulties they are facing”. The Centre’s vision is for the residents of Knowle West to have easy access to advice and support of an excellent standard which is tailored to each individual. It does this by offering a drop-in advice centre, open every weekday morning and all day on Tuesdays.
The Centre has been present on the Knowle West Estate for over two decades. It was first opened in December 1996 by Churches Together in Knowle West and Network Counselling, and now sees over 4,500 people annually. It works particularly with those with poor literacy and those living in financial poverty or crisis.
